Letter to Polish Consulate

Communist Party members were on Portland Street in Manchester on Monday 2nd of March, responding to a call for international support from the Communist Party of Poland (CPP).

Joined by a member of the KKE (Greek Communist Party), they delivered a letter to the Polish Consulate expressing grave concerns at the Polish Government’s acts of persecution against the CCP and the editorial of the ‘Brzask’ newspaper.

Changes to Poland’s penal code introduced last year banned the ideology, symbols and other material associated with communism, equating it with nazism and including it as a “totalitarian belief.” Breaching the code carries a potential three-year jail sentence.

With this fresh act of persecution, the Polish Government is continuing the anti-communist frenzy being whipped up by the EU and the governments of other countries, while pursuing attacks on workers’ rights.
