The trade union movement is experiencing a dramatic resurgence in response to the vicious austerity offensive of the coalition government. We saw the biggest trade union demonstration for many years in March of this year, followed by a mass coordinated strike in defense of public sector pensions on 30th June, plus a march of 35 000 against the Tories in Manchester earlier this month. 

The pensions campaign is set to continue, with an even bigger mass strike scheduled for 30th November.

It is vital at this crucial time in our history that trade unions work together at every level to defend working people. Bury Trades Council is reforming in order to carry out this task in the Bury area.
