Boron California, a town of 2000, is home to one of the largest Borates Mine. The workers voted unanimously not to accept the management's new contract in January 2010 and were immediately locked out.
Joan Sekler, independent film maker, who made Unprecedented - the film about the 2000 Florida election and all the undemocratic stunts that happened - is a resident of LA. She decided to go up to visit the Borax miners and ended up making a film. LOCKED OUT has been translated into Turkish by the Turkish Miners Union. She has been over to Sydney where the Borax miners hosted a number of showings and is here, entered into a London Film Festival and showing the film hosted by the London Mining Network. Along with the annual lobby of Rio Tinto Zinc AGM in London on April 14th.
