Second Stop The War Protest in Manchester

For a second consecutive Saturday, St Peter’s Square in Manchester city centre saw a protest against US military actions in Iran.

The event was organised by the Greater Manchester Stop The War Coalition who invited a speaker on behalf of the Committee for the Defence of the Rights of the Iranian People (CoDIR).

A wide range of speakers addressed the rally, from Momentum (Jade Doswell) and Manchester Trades Council (Evan Pritchard) to CND (Jenny Turner), Xtinction Rebellion (Joelin Stone), and a member of the Palestine Solidarity Campaign, all condemning the damaging and destabilising actions of Donald Trump and the US administration

Despite the cold weather and short notice, around 100 people attended the demonstration including supporters of Momentum, members of the Communist Party of Britain, and members of the public who are not members of any political organisation. All wanted to express their opposition to the current tensions.
